TAU brings to Anchorage the worlds most famous rock opera – HAIR. Originally produced against the backdrop of Vietnam, the Draft, the Sexual Revolution and recreational drugs of the Psychedelic 60s, this HAIR is produced against the backdrop of two very different wars soldiered by a volunteer military force, growing war protests, lots of public apathy, no sacrifices on the home front and lots of recreational drugs and sex for those who want them in America with the assistance of Internet. Of course there is the music. This incredible music that calls us to dance, to celebrate Life, to lament the waste of youth sent off to battle, to take our protests onto the streets, that challenges us to knock Conformity and be ourselves, that relishes the spirit of youth that rails against the Establishment. HAIR needed the Supreme Court to defend its First Amendment freedoms in order to perform in Boston ans Chattanooga when it was banned. If you want to attend an evening of inspired music and evocative choreography, come see HAIR. And if you want an evening of theatre that is thought-provoking, come see HAIR. Just come and wear flowers in your hair…
