Man Dies in Alaska Highway Crash

Associated Press

A Wasilla man was killed Sunday in a two vehicle accident on the Alaska Highway about eight miles from the U.S. Border Station.

According to Alaska Troopers, 79-year-old Foster Heaven was pronounced dead at the scene.  Margaret Heaven, 74-years-old, was transported to the Tok Medical Center with what troopers described as minor injuries.

Investigators say the small passenger van driven by Foster Heaven crossed the center line and smashed into an oncoming 22-foot U-Haul truck.  The U-Haul driver, Richard Dunham of Fairbanks, was not injured.

Troopers say road conditions may have contributed to the crash.
