Stevens Laid to Rest in Arlington

Former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery today at 9 am Alaska time, 1 pm in Washington.  Stevens was honored with three rifle volleys and the Missing Man Flyover.

The 86-year-old was killed in a plane crash in Southwest Alaska on August 9.  As a Veteran of the Army Air Corps who served in World War II and a U.S. Senator, he will be buried at Arlington.

Stevens represented Alaska in the U.S. Senate for 40 years until January of 2009 and was the Senate’s longest-serving Republican.
