THE PART-TIME SINGLE PARENT

IN-STUDIO GUESTS: In Alaska it’s not uncommon in two parent households to have either mom or dad work out of town on a regular basis for part of the year – in fisheries, mining, on the North Slope or deployed with the military, for instance. We invited three parents who are familiar with this arrangement to share their knowledge and tips for getting by when the family is apart.

Joining host Shana Sheehy in the studio are Amanda Rothbarth whose husband works two weeks on/two weeks off with his North Slope job, they have three kids; Brooke Scalzo is raising her two youngsters and managing the fishing business while her husband fishes throughout the summer and fall; and Air Force Chief Scott Frickson, shares the unique struggles military families, including his own, face during long separations.

FEATURED STORIES: Take a trip to Juneau and meet a couple Legislature Parents; learn about Support Services for Military Families; and save room for dessert because it’s an all-new Chef KTD with the perfect Care Package Cookies!
