Department of Defense Releases Name of Alaska-Based Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense has released the name of an Alaska-based soldier killed in a suicide attack last week in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon says 40-year-old Captain Charles E. Ridgley Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland died in the attack that also killed four other soldiers.  Ridgley was with the 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Ridgley joined the army in 1990.
