Redistricting Board Executive Director Dies

Steve Heimel, APRN – Anchorage

The executive director of the state Redistricting Board is dead.  Ron Miller’s death Sunday was unexpected, and will make the already hectic redistricting process even more difficult.  The Redistricting Board had its last hearing on Friday.  Ron Miller was 65. The cause of his death is an apparent heart attack.  He had served in a number of government positions, including director of the Industrial Development and Export Authority.  Board attorney Michael White will meet with Chairman John Torgerson to decide their next move.  The Board has a tight deadline to meet to get its plan through Voting Rights Act review.
