The Parks and Recreation department in Anchorage is trying to make getting rid of invasive plants fun by staging a competition Saturday. The Weed Smackdown will give out free lunch and prizes to people who help remove the European Bird Cherry tree and other invasive plants. A number of agencies are co-operating to stage the event at Valley of the Moon Park.
