Sculptors Turn Stone Into Tradition

Today on AK: Art. Imagine chipping away at a rock to create a shape that communicates concepts such as spiritual transformation. That was the challenge five Alaska Native artists took on in a recent stone carving class put on by the Alaska Native Arts Foundation. Many of the artists are relatively young, in their twenties, but their sculptures reflect ancient traditions.
