‘Easy Company’ Soldier Resides in Anchorage

By | November 11, 2011

On this Veterans Day, it’s worth pointing out that a member of the “Band of Brothers” lives in Anchorage.  The famed HBO cable television series dramatized the service of Easy Company of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Regiment of the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division.

88-year-old Roderick Bain served in Easy Company and he and his wife, Donelle, have lived in Anchorage for 49 years.

Of 138 men in Easy Company, from Normandy through the Battle of the Bulge to Eagle’s Nest, 60 lost their lives.

This story originally aired on Nov. 11, 2010.
