Eastern Aleutians Tribal Group Gets $422K Grant

Federal officials say a rural grant totaling more than $422,000 has been awarded to Eastern Aleutian Tribes Inc.

The grant announced Friday comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the agency’s Rural Utilities Service.

Officials say the money will help finance an upgrade and expansion of the Eastern Aleutians organization’s telemedicine equipment.

The organization provides dental, medical and behavioral health services in federally qualified health centers in the communities including King Cove, Nelson Lagoon, Sand Point and Akutan among others.

It was formed in 1991.
