Coleman Barney Appealing Conviction

A Fairbanks militia member is appealing his conviction on federal weapons charges.

Thirty-eight-year-old Coleman Barney was convicted in June of conspiracy to possess unregistered silencers and grenades.

He also was convicted of possessing an unregistered 37mm projectile launcher loaded with an anti-personnel round that contained rubber pellets.

He was sentenced last month to five years in prison.
