‘Naknek Spirit’ Goes Aground East Of Whittier

The Coast Guard reports yet a third tender went aground and spilled an estimated 500 gallons of fuel in Passage Canal east of Whittier.

This one is the 104-foot “Naknek Spirit,” out of Homer.

The vessel was re-floated at high tide, and the spill was boomed off and was being skimmed at last report.

No injuries were reported.
