Alaskan Efforts to Reduce Childhood Obesity

August 16, 2013

Over the last 200 years scientific advances have improved health and wealth around the world. One result is improved access to food despite an exponential growth of the world’s population. This has not been without problems however, as the increased intake of calories from food accompanied by less physical activity to burn off calories has been associated with a dramatic rise in obesity. Recognition of this problem has led to efforts to control the problem. On this edition of Line One we will discuss some of the efforts to prevent childhood obesity in Alaska and review the evidence for their success.
