Troopers investigate Anchorage inmate’s death

An investigation is underway after a 26–year-old inmate at the Anchorage Correctional Complex died.

KTVA reports two nearby inmates told corrections officers that Alexis Hathaway was have difficulty breathing Thursday evening.

Medics were called and he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:42 p.m. Thursday. He was jailed Wednesday morning on a felony driving under the influence charge.

No other information was immediately available from the state corrections department. Alaska State Troopers are investigating Hathaway’s death.
