UAA falls to Middle Tennessee in Great Alaska Shootout

Toledo plays Loyola Chicago and Middle Tennessee plays North Carolina Ashville in tonight’s semi-final round of the men’s Great Alaska Shootout basketball tournament in Anchorage.

In Thursday’s first round games, host Alaska Anchorage fell behind by 15 points before a 19-2 run put the Seawolves ahead by 2 points over Middle Tennessee  with a little over 3 minutes left.

But the Blue Raiders scored six straight points to re-take the lead.

A desperation last second shot by UAA’s Suki Wiggs bounced off the backboard  and Middle Tennessee escaped 75-72 despite Wiggs’ 35 points.

The Blue Raiders next play North Carolina Ashville. The Bulldogs started each half with a 14 to 2 run and beat Drexel, 85-66.
