Truck crashes into patrol vehicle, temporarily traps trooper

A trooper was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a truck crashed into the back of his stopped vehicle on Seward Highway.

KTVA-TV reports an online dispatch says the trooper pulled over to help a driver in front of him whose vehicle had lost control on the icy road. He turned on his emergency lights and was hit from behind by a truck before he could exit the vehicle.

The truck, driven by 26-year-old driver Caleb Adelmann, swung around and impacted the driver’s side door of the patrol vehicle, trapping the trooper.

He was removed from the patrol vehicle by the Girdwood Fire Department and taken to the hospital.

No other injuries were reported in the crash. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
