Alaska State Troopers were alerted to the sound of gunfire at a rural residence in the Meadow Lakes area sometime after 8 am on Monday. According to Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters, two people in an Autumn Lane residence were found deceased shortly afterward.

Troopers said in a dispatch on Tuesday that the Alaska Bureau of Investigation is taking over the homicide investigation.

Trooper spokeperson Peters says the initial 911 call was made by another juvenile living at the residence. A dog in the home was taken into protective custody, later claimed by an authorized person.

Peters said today [tuesday] that Troopers believe there is no danger to the community. On Monday, two elementary schools in the area were placed on stay put mode, but classes continued. The stay put order was lifted Monday evening.
