Body of missing Army National Guard soldier found

The body of missing Army National Guard soldier Nephi Soper was found over the weekend.

At approximately 11:15 Sunday morning , searchers discovered Soper’s remains at Tanaina Lake — which was not along his intended route.

Soper originally went missing on February 18th, when he failed to report to his unit for drill.

He had gone hiking, beginning at the Prospect Heights trailhead, intending to exit the mountains near the National Guard Armory.

Soper’s next-of-kin have been notified.
