Anchorage Police have ID’d a suspect in custody in relation to homicide Monday in South Anchorage.

Witnesses said Trayvon Morrissette, 32, of Anchorage shot Jorge Rea-Villa, 30, Monday evening at a holiday barbecue at a residence on the 4000 block of Lore Road.

Rea-Villa suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.

According to an APD press release, the two knew each other, but witnesses did not know why Morrissette would have shot Rea-Villa.

The witnesses said Morrissette fled the scene in a tan sedan following the shooting.

Morrissette was apprehended Monday evening, when officers found him hiding in a stairwell at the 7400 block of Foxridge Way, after a nearby resident called police, reporting a man matching Morrissette’s description had barricaded himself in the residents apartment – locking the resident out.

Morrissette is charged with Murder in the first degree and burglary.

He was taken to the Anchorage Jail with bail set at $500,000.
