The flood advisory along the Kuskokwim River near Nikolai has been extended through early Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says several inches of rain in the Alaska Range earlier this week has caused the south fork of the Kuskokwim to rise over the bank at Nikolai.

The river is expected to gradually fall throughout the day Thursday.

The Weather Service says flooding of low lying areas around Nikolai is occurring, and some debris is floating down the river.

The Flood advisory expires at 12:45 p.m. Thursday.
