Separate shootings leave 1 dead, 1 in critical condition in Anchorage

Anchorage police responded to two overnight shootings that left one person dead and one in critical condition.

APD received multiple reports of gunfire late Monday in Anchorage’s Government Hill neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they discovered 29-year-old Ian Alex Bobich shot outside a residence on the 800 block of Elm Street.

Bobich was declared dead at the scene.

His death is being investigated as a homicide. No suspects are in custody and no charges are pending.

A second shooting left one person critically injured after a verbal argument outside of a Holiday gas station at the corner of Lake Otis and East 68th Avenue.

The suspected shooter is in custody.

APD says both the shooter and the victim are males, but have not publicly identified either party.

Police say the two knew one another.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anchorage police have identified the victim of a Monday night homicide.

Ian Alex Bobich, 29, was found dead outside a residence in the city’s Government Hill neighborhood.

Just before 11 p.m. Monday, APD received multiple reports of shots fired in Anchorage’s Government Hill neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they discovered an adult male who was shot outside a residence on the 800 block of Elm Street.

The victim – who has not been identified – was declared dead at the scene.

The death is being investigated as a homicide. No suspects are in custody.

A second shooting took place at a Holiday Gas station at the Lake Otis and 68th Avenue intersection left one person critically injured.

The suspected shooter is in custody.

APD says the shooter and victim – who are both males – knew one another.
