Phillip Blanchett
It started out as a music lesson in his brother’s basement. The traditional Inuit drumsongs with impressive interlocking harmonies immediately gave Pamyua founding member Phillip Blanchett a feeling that he will never forget, and it has set this uniquely Alaskan musical group apart from the rest of the crowd.

Lori Bradford

Then Sarah Palin was selected as the GOP Vice Presendential nominee, and Devon’s political blog’s viewership soared to thousands of hits a day from people wanting to know more about the person who had a chance to be the second most powerful person in America.

Holly Brooks
A few short years ago, she was a coach for APU’s nordic ski team, not ever really considering herself to be among the world’s best skiers. But after an oddly-timed revelation, she is now an Olympian, skiing alongside fellow Alaskan Kikkan Randall. After a long World Cup season in Europe, she is back in Alaska, talking about how she got to this point.

Sheila Wyne
She had nothing but a backpack and a one-way ticket to Alaska when she left home. When she got to Alaska, Sheila had no idea what she wanted to do with her life, but after discovering her passion for art while working in the ceramics lab at UAA she can’t imagine ever doing anything else.

Rev. Norm Elliott
Some call him the “Wobbly Canary” because of his flying of a bright yellow plane, but most know him as Rev. Norm Elliott. He was flying around Interior Alaska holding church services, so long as the temperature was above -40 degrees. You could probably even argue that he is among the most experienced bush pilots in Alaska history, since flying himself around was just another part of the job.

Though he spends much of his work week in a math classroom teaching at Alaska Pacific University, Roman Dial is anything but the stereotypical math nerd.
