Ann Alquist is Alaska Public Media’s Director of Membership. She produces, directs and coordinates fundraising initiatives on radio, television, the web and social media.
Before coming to Alaska Public Media, Ann was the Director of Radio Engagement at the National Center for Media Engagement based in Madison, Wisconsin. She worked closely with public radio stations to develop and implement community engagement strategies, including Chicago Public Media/WBEZ, WDET in Detroit and KCUR in Kansas City. She has served on several grant review committees at state, national and international agencies as an informed voice of the public media landscape.
Ann’s career started at KFAI Radio in Minneapolis, producing a daily, half hour newscast with volunteers from diverse communities. In 2005, she founded the Twin Cities Media Alliance to aggregate local content from over 40 community newspapers and cable access stations. She is also a Kiplinger Journalism Fellow alumn and was a Young American Journalist Fulbright Fellow in Germany covering the country’s health insurance reforms.
