Flying Kites for ANWR

On Friday, July 16, kite-flying enthusiasts from as far away as Minnesota gathered in the Cuddy Park, near the Loussac Library to begin the celebration of the 50th anniversary of ANWR.

Coming with delicate, swallow-shaped kites in hand, members of the Minnesota Kite Society journeyed to Alaska to allow Alaskans to sign their good wishes on the kites, which will be flown in multiple places around the US to honor the 88 species of birds that begin their life in the refuge.
