Miller Clings to Lead Over Murkowski

Joe Miller clung to a lead in the GOP nomination for US Senate Wednesday morning. According to the state’s election office, Miller led incumbent Senator Lisa Murkowski by less than 2,000 votes with about 98 pct of the precincts reporting.

Miller, who had been endorsed by former Governor Sarah Palin, was considered the outsider. His vote total Wednesday morning was 45,909. Murkowski had 43,949 votes.

The winner will face Sitka Mayor Scott McAdams who easily won the Democratic nomination.
