Russian Oil Tanker Passes Through Northeast Passage

A Russian oil tanker has made it through the Northeast Passage.  Reportedly the tanker “Baltica” made the trip from Murmansk to Ningbo, China in eleven days, cutting the distance of the trip in half by going through the Arctic instead of through the Suez Canal.

Meanwhile, a survey of computer modelers who try to predict how far the sea ice will withdraw each year shows most of them predicting less ice than last year, but more than the two years before that.  The withdrawal will hit its maximum some time this month.
