Yukon King Salmon Run Declared Disaster

The U.S. Commerce department has declared a fisheries disaster for the Yukon River King Salmon run.  The announcement from Commerce Secretary Gary Locke means $5 million in federal disaster relief to help communities and fisheries recover from the commercial fishery failure.  The money will apparently flow through something called the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission.  It is intended to provide financial assistance to Yukon River salmon fishermen, and can be used to pay for new nets with different mesh.
