Alaska Oil Production Drops 6 Percent

Len Anderson, KSKA – Anchorage

Alaska oil production was nearly 6 percent less compared to last October.  According to the Bloomberg new service the drop was due to lower field output, including BP’s Prudhoe Bay, Endicott and Northstar operations.

Records from the Alaska Tax Division show October’s production averaging just over 650,000 barrels a day compared to nearly 700,000 barrels a day in October, 2009.

The last time Alaska output recorded a year-on-year gain was 2002.
