Retired Coast Guard Admiral Tom Barrett will take the helm as the new President of the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company – a departure from the past practice of executives from the owner oil companies running the company. Barrett is already familiar with a number of the marine safety issues surrounding delivery of crude oil through the pipeline to tankers in Port Valdez.
