State Legislators Plan to Attend Energy Council Conference

Almost half the  state Legislature plans to be in Washington, D.C., next week for an Energy Council conference.

The annual trip  brings work at the state Capitol to a slow grind.

Lawmakers defend the junket because of  Alaska’s heavy reliance on oil and the state’s  hope of a natural gas pipeline.

The council includes energy-producing states, Canadian provinces and Venezuela.

27 lawmakers expected to attend .
