APD Begins Posting Notices in Homeless Camps

Anchorage police yesterday began posting notices at the city’s homeless camps that any possessions left there after 15 days will be confiscated. They have provided a list of locations where they plan to do the posting.

Last year the city was stopped by a lawsuit from simply confiscating items from homeless camps, and the Assembly passed an ordinance that allowed for storing the items for up to 30 days, or giving fifteen days notice before any confiscation.
