Alaska National Guardsman Accused of Embezzlement

An Alaska National Guardsman accused of embezzling more than $220,000 from the Guard’s family programs has been charged with theft and falsifying business records.

40-year-old Jason Johnson, the program’s former budget administrator, is accused of allegedly issuing checks to himself from August 2006 to September 2010.

Col. Michael Williams, Johnson’s boss, told police in January he suspected Johnson was embezzling.

Johnson has posted $50,000 bail. Court records also show he is due in court Nov. 3 for a pre-indictment hearing.
