Anchorage Police, Troopers Seek Kidnap Suspect

Anchorage law enforcement officers have reopened the Seward Highway, though it is unclear if police have apprehended a man suspected of an armed kidnapping.

Anchorage police Lt. Dave Parker tells KTUU-TV that the suspect kidnapped a man Friday near 88th Avenue and Lake Otis Parkway. Parker says the suspect forced the victim into his own car, and at gunpoint, demanded to be driven south.

Parker says they stopped at the Turnagain Pass rest area outside the city limits so the suspect could use the restroom. The suspect took the car keys but the victim had a spare key and drove off.

Parker says the suspect is dangerous.

State Troopers are also searching for the suspect.
