Anchorage police seek felon spotted with handgun

Anchorage police are searching for a convicted felon who was spotted Sunday carrying a weapon.

Police say they’ve obtained a felony warrant for the arrest of 25-year-old William Jarrett IV.

Police say Jarrett early Sunday got into an argument with his roommate that turned into a fight. He walked out with his roommate’s handgun.

Officers just before 5 a.m. spotted Jarrett near his home on Atherton Road in south Anchorage.

Police say Jarrett refused to stop, pulled the gun out of backpack, fired the gun into the ground and ran into a wooded area.

Police are asking for help in finding Jarrett.

The arrest warrant is for counts of felony assault, weapons misconduct and theft.
