Schools: What’s working

What's-workingNews of the moment in Alaska can be unsettling: budget cuts, education leadership shifts, testing challenges—the list goes on. But something we all know is this:  Every day, thousands of Anchorage School District students walk into classrooms with focused teachers standing there, ready to make great things happen. And they do! We thought it worthy of our time to take a minute and hear from teachers and leaders in the trenches on what they are working on, and the results they are seeing. Sometimes it is a good idea if, just for a moment, we step away from the turmoil to hear about programs that work on behalf of kids.

There is clearly no way in one show to represent the innovations and successes happening across the district. But we have tapped into a few examples: a principal, a teacher and a counselor. We also have some students on tap to speak briefly by phone on their own experience.
