Dallas Seavey and Mitch Seavey are within 30 miles of White Mountain, with Brent Sass trailing just a couple miles behind.
The trio pulled out of Elim within half an hour of each other – Dallas at 4:11 a.m., Brent at 4:37 a.m., and Mitch at 4:40 a.m.
Dallas Seavey is maintaining his lead by a few miles, but the elder Seavey overtook Sass shortly after the checking out of Elim.
Mitch Seavey and Sass are running with 12 and 13 dogs, respectively, but defending Iditarod champion Dallas Seavey is down to nine dogs in harness.
Aliy Zirkle is running in fourth place, about 25 miles behind Sass.
Wade Marrs is more than 20 miles behind Zirkle.
