Several political races and ballot measures in Anchorage’s recent election are still hanging in the balance, with enough outstanding votes to tip the final results.

At current count, the decision by Girdwood residents on whether or not to use property taxes to pay for police once the state troopers leave this summer is a dead heat: 395 to 395.

The area-wide race for school board seat B has Kay Ellen Schuster ahead by just 66 votes over challenger Starr Marsett.

And on the $49 million dollar school bond, the gap between No and Yes votes has shrunk to less than 567 votes.

With 1,500 ballots left to be counted, according to the Municipal Clerk’s office, all three issues could still be upended by the time results are certified on Tuesday April 19th.
