Mat-Su school board selects new superintendent

The Matanuska Susitna Borough school board has announced a replacement for outgoing school superintendent Deena Paramo. On Wednesday, the board offered the Borough’s top school administrator job to Gene Stone, who is currently the district’s assistant superintendent of instruction. Stone’s contract is for one year only.

Stone has served in his current position since 2010. He has also been a principal at Palmer Junior Middle School. The school board is expected to approve Stone’s contact by June. His job starts July 1.
