Troopers said 43-year-old Ray McCullough Jr., 51-year-old Mike Tunohun Jr. and 57-year-old Paul Nicholas Nesbit died in the single-vehicle crash of a passenger van in the village of Atka.

Atka is a fishing village of 68 people located 1,200 miles southwest of Anchorage and 350 miles west of Unalaska.

Investigators have not been able to reach Atka because of poor weather.

A driver and nine passengers were in the van.

Troopers took a call on the crash just after 6 p.m. Others in the van were injured.
