How courts protect vulnerable Alaskans- Children

Law-books

Justice Alaska on Hometown Alaska is back with the second installment of a three part series looking at the protective role courts play on behalf of Alaska’s most vulnerable citizens—the elderly, children, and victims of Domestic Violence. On this week’s program, Children In Need of Aid (CINA)-Protecting Alaskan Children.

Protecting vulnerable Children across our vast state is an enormous job that is difficult, complex and often quite contentious. Protecting Children by removing them from their home’s is a painful and confusing time for children and their families and is reserved as a measure of last resort.

What happens when a child has been removed? What is the process after a CINA case has been opened? And, what are the roles and responsibilities of the various agencies who participate in this process? Join Host’s Prentiss Pemberton and Anchorage Senior Judge Elaine Andrews for this discussion about the importance of the state’s role in protecting our most vulnerable population.
