If you spend time outdoors in Alaska during the summer, you’ve probably run into a bear or two along the way. The vast majority of these encounters get your heart rate up but end peacefully, without incident. Every once in a while though, a bear encounter turns into a story you’ll never forget.

In honor of summer, we want to hear your best Alaska bear stories. Where were you? What happened? How did you feel? Is there anything you do differently out on the trail now? Any lessons learned?

We’re eager to hear from you.

[Check out all of our bear encounter stories here.]

Tell us your best bear story in the form below or send an email to news@alaskapublic.org. We plan to use some of the entries on the radio and online. (But, we won’t publish your story without contacting your first. So please include the best way for a reporter to reach you.)
