Roman Dial

Though he spends much of his work week in a math classroom teaching at Alaska Pacific University, Roman Dial is anything but the stereotypical math nerd. His accomplishments outside of class, outside of civilization, and, frankly, outside the vast majority of people’s comfort levels, in some of the wildest country left on the planet are astonishing. From his early days of poking around ice fields and forests as a teenager to competing on some of the top teams in the world in extreme backcountry races in some of the most rugged terrain you can find, it is apparent that he is just as, if not more, comfortable hundreds of miles from any type of civilization as he is in the ivory towers of the university. Oh, and did we mention that he also spent some time heading up a team of Playboy Bunnies in one of those backcountry races?

Join host Charles Wohlforth as he talks with backcountry adventurer Roman Dial on this week’s episode of 1on1.
