The first 18 years of his distinguished career were in the vehicle maintenance field. Dave retrained into the first sergeant career field, serving in that capacity his last four years of active duty.
Dave had never given radio broadcasting any thought. He has been told that he has a very clear voice and should consider getting into radio broadcasting. Dave grew up in a musical family. His father and his brothers formed a band, and that inspired his brothers and him to also learn to play guitar. Dave played with numerous bands while growing up in New Mexico, even recorded a 45 rpm record with one of the bands. He has always enjoyed music, and still practices playing the guitar a bit. While talking with some of his friends one day, Dave found out that there was no Hispanic music programming in Anchorage. He contacted Bede Trantina in July, 2007, and the Hispanic program Algo Nuevo became reality. It started as a two hour show and is now over three hours long, airing every Sunday evening. Dave thoroughly enjoys producing Algo Nuevo.
