Peter Host

Development Manager

Peter works alongside the rest of our fantastic Development and Marketing team to expand and improve community engagement and revenue streams. He is very grateful for the opportunity to assist, in whatever way possible, in connecting caring Alaskans with Alaska Public Media’s mission, and helping our state stay informed and grounded in community.

Peter served for six years as the Director of Wasilla Behavioral Health Services, and three years as the Development Director at Wasilla Area Seniors, Inc. He has done volunteer work as Secretary of the Mat-Su Agency Partnership Board, Member-at-Large of the Anchorage Waldorf Board of Trustees, Policy Committee Co-Chair for R.O.C.K. Mat-Su (a Mat-Su Health Foundation funded Collective Impact project), Elections Chairperson in District 17-420, and Education Co-Chair with the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He believes that lacking great skill and expertise does not excuse him from the responsibility of service above self, and that humility, dedication and great curiosity have been his most helpful tools in supporting his community to the best of his ability.

Peter is an avid consumer of audiobooks and podcasts, and suggests the novels The Goldfinch and The Fifth Season, and podcasts, Terrible, Thanks for Asking and Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History. Peter is the father of two beautiful little girls, Sophia (10) and Violet (6), and suggests developing a strong repertoire of character voices in the first year of parenthood. He also recommends the book Daddy Hug to all fathers of little ones, noting that his copy is well loved, and a total shambles at this point. Peter is also married to a vivacious ball of love and humor named Alicia, and considers himself one of the luckiest men currently walking this earth.
