Hometown, Alaska Host
A lifelong Alaskan, Shelly originally hails from North Pole, AK, and has deftly explored other parts of the world including teaching English as Peace Corps Volunteer in China. Now a senior planner and project manager at Agnew::Beck Consulting, she takes every opportunity to travel throughout the state to work with rural communities. Outside of work, you can find her on the trails of Southcentral Alaska, in the gym instructing group fitness classes, hosting Hometown, Alaska or volunteering at KSKA/KAKM. Shelly earned a master’s degree in Community and Economic Development and Sociology from Illinois State University Peace Fellows Program and a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Shelly came to KSKA as part of the Alaska Returned Peace Corps group that has volunteered for KSKA and KAKM annual fundraising events for years. She has also been a guest on Talk of Alaska and Hometown, Alaska. Through those experiences, she discovered the joys of live radio and the excitement of learning more about the history and current happening in Southcentral Alaska.
