The Baranov Museum is a history museum in Kodiak, Alaska, with interpretive emphasis on southwest Alaska’s Russian era (1741-1867) and early American era (1867-1912). The Museum is located within the National Historic Landmark building known as the Russian American Magazin or the Erskine House.

The museum is operated in partnership between the Kodiak Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and the City of Kodiak.

Waves of Change: Kodiak Stories of the 1964 Earthquake and Tsunami was a two-week long history and film course in which Kodiak youth researched the under-documented stories that relate to the 1964 earthquake and tsunami. Students conducted interviews with elders and scientists, engaged in archival and secondary source research, and shot, directed and edited their own films. Read more.
