Murkowski, Young Criticize Shared Beringian Heritage Program Plan’s Transparency

The idea of a shared park between Russia and the United States has – in recent years – been discussed in levels as high as the White House. In 2010, then U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke about it at a meeting in Russia. The National Park Service on Monday released the most recent draft of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries. The release has drawn criticism from Alaska’s senior leaders in DC. Sen. Lisa Murkowski met this week with federal officials investigating FEMA’s response to this year’s flooding in Galena. The flood left more than half of Galena’s homes uninhabitable. Calista Board Sanctions 6 Board Members For Ethics Violations

The Calista board is publicly censuring three current directors and three past directors for ethics violations. The infractions are related to improper use of stipends and per diem or falsifying meeting minutes. At its October meeting, the board set sanctions for the six individuals. The Federal Election Commission ruled today that U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller can use campaign funds to appeal an $84,000 judgment arising from a campaign related lawsuit. The FEC, though, stopped short of saying a candidate can use campaign money to pay a penalty arising from his own bad conduct in a court case. That distinction probably won’t matter to Miller. For Homeless Teens, It’s About More Than Right And Wrong
