Educate girls and you will change the world. This is the message of Girl Rising, a film that tells the stories of nine different girls around the world. Following a screening of Girl Rising, the Alaska World Affairs Council hosted a panel discussion on the power of educating girls with members of Anchorage's academic community and Brian Callahan from the Global Campaign for Education. The COVID-19 pandemic and a continued recession was tough on the Anchorage economy in 2020. Job losses permeated nearly every business sector and consumer confidence is low, but 2021 could show some improvement.

The United States and China are major trade partners, but current economic tensions between the two countries could have far-reaching affects.
