Our Commitment to I.D.E.A. (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access)
We are the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) staff team at Alaska Public Media (AKPM). Our purpose is to help guide our organization and support our staff toward a more equitable future, inclusive of all of our Alaskan communities. To do that, we aim to:
Create an empowered space for AKPM staff from all departments to share about all things IDEA-related.
Listen to and uplift BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and disability community voices that have often been marginalized.
Facilitate workplace learning, in order to break down barriers and build understanding for a safer work environment.
Public Media for All Commitments
As of February 2021, Alaska Public Media has joined the Public Media for All nationwide movement of organizations, supporters, and employees who pledge to be better. This includes making specific commitments to our audience, employees, and communities. We are currently helping to determine the order in which AKPM will work on these action items. The staff IDEA team works collaboratively with the AKPM Community Advisory Board and the Board of Director Improvement Committee.
