House Natural Resources Committee Subpoenas Records of Federal Offshore Moratorium Decision

As a House Natural Resources subcommittee was blasting the Obama administration’s ocean policy at a field hearing in Alaska, committee Chairman Doc Hastings of Washington issued a subpoena for records of how Interior Secretary Ken Salazar decided to impose a moratorium on federal offshore oil and gas leasing after the Deepwater Horizon blowout.  Salazar called it a “distraction.”  Hastings said it was a pity the Secretary was not living up to his pledge of transparency.
